PEER LEADER
PROGRAM

BUILD COMMUNITY

Student Mentors, Peer Support

The MNOHS Peer Leader Program creates meaningful connections between experienced students and newcomers. Whether you're just starting your online learning journey or ready to guide others, our peer leader program builds community and helps everyone succeed.

How the Program Works

The MNOHS Peer Leader Program matches successful MNOHS students with incoming students. Peer Leaders serve as mentors and guides, helping new students navigate online learning and connect with their peers at MNOHS. It's peer-to-peer support that makes a real difference.

For New Students

What to Expect

  • Weekly Check-Ins: Connect with your Peer Leader on a regular basis to discuss your progress, ask questions, and celebrate successes.
  • Goal Setting & Support: Work together with your Peer Leader on setting academic and personal goals throughout the school year.
  • Community Connection: Participate in regular large group activities—both online and in-person when possible—to build friendships and feel part of the MNOHS community.
  • Navigating Online Learning: Get practical guidance on using MNOHS systems, managing your time, and succeeding as an online student from someone who's been there.

Getting Started as a New Student

If you are enrolling at Minnesota Online High School and would like to participate in the Peer Leader Program, we'd love to have you! You'll need to submit a consent form (signed by a parent/guardian if you're under 18).

The Impact of Peer Leadership

Peer Leaders are trained to support new students during a critical transition. Returning students who were once in the shoes of incoming 9th graders or transfer students understand the challenges and opportunities of online learning. By sharing their experiences and knowledge, Peer Leaders help create a supportive, connected school community where every student can thrive.
