In this quarter-length course, you will explore genetics and evolution with a focus on companion animals like dogs, cats, and guinea pigs. We also discuss domestication and how our relationships with certain animals have changed over time. This is a Biology Alternative course and cannot be taken if you have already finished a full year of high school Biology.
Course materials: This course utilizes a variety of online videos, readings, and virtual activities.
Standards met: Taken together, the Biology Alternative courses (Anatomy and Physiology, Cell Biology, Forestry, and Biology of Companion Animals) meet all Life Science standards and benchmarks of the 2019 Minnesota Science Standards for Grades 9-12.
