Time Commitment: 5 – 8 well-focused hours per week

Attendance: Simply logging in to your courses does not count as attending. Attendance is based on submitting assignments and is taken on a weekly basis. Submit all of your work by the weekly due date to be marked with good attendance.

Prerequisites: Algebra II A and B, or the equivalent, for Precalculus A. Precalculus A, or the equivalent, for Precalculus B.

Credit: .25 credit per quarter

Terms: This course is four quarters in length

The Precalculus courses will prepare students for college Calculus. Topics covered in Precalculus A include analyzing polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions.  In addition, trigonometry and analytic trigonometry are discussed.  In Precalculus B, topics include vectors, systems of equations and matrices, analyzing conic sections, polar and complex numbers, sequences and series and an introduction to Calculus.  Course materials include examples from diverse online sources such as the ck12.org website and real world application problems. Students also submit assignments and utilize activities within the ck12.org website.  Course activities include discussions, Desmos.com assignments, and problem sets—offering each student a mathematics learning environment where they can understand and excel.

Course materials: Access to the ck12.org website, which includes the online text, and Desmos.com website (a scientific or graphing calculator might also be helpful).

Standards Covered: These courses exceed the Minnesota 2007 Math Standards for Grades 9-11.
