MNOHS Science Teacher Amber Lamp
Chemistry helps us to make sense of the world we live in—from why soap cleans greasy plates to whether or not biofuels are a beneficial energy path.
At MNOHS the Minnesota physical science graduation requirement can be met by taking these four quarter-length topics courses:
- Chemistry and Technology must be taken first. It is the prerequisite for the other three courses, which can be taken in any sequence.
- Chemistry in the Body
- Chemistry of Everyday Products
- Chemistry in the Environment
Course materials: All required materials are available on the Internet or provided within the course. Before a student can enroll in a MNOHS science course, MNOHS must receive a permission form signed by a parent or guardian (if the student is under 18).
Standards met: Students who successfully complete all four topics courses will met the standards and benchmarks for the Minnesota Chemistry Standards for Grades 9-12.
Credit: 1.0 total (0.25 per course)
Honors Opportunity: Yes
Prerequisites: None for Chemistry and Technology. Chemistry and Technology for the other three courses, which can be taken in any sequence.
