This semester-length course fosters students’ practical leadership skills, as well as meaningful engagement in school and community improvement projects.  Students begin by looking at leadership in a place where they are expert - education.  As they explore qualities of a leader, they examine their potential for leadership.  First quarter you will look at leadership within education.  Second quarter we examine more closely leadership skills and style.  Each student chooses an issue that they are passionate about and apply their knowledge of effective leadership to make an Action Plan to work in their school or community on that issue.

These are the guiding questions of the Student Leadership course:

  • What is your belief about education?
  • How has school prepared you to be a leader?  In what ways could school better prepare you?
  • What is the role of school in our society?
  • What is MNOHS' role in education?

  • How do I become a better leader?
